"I love the idea of capturing real photos of moms and families. I think many moms feel that what is on social media (curated images) is real life and can lead to unfair and unnecessary comparison and if every mom showed candid family photos this would bust that!"
One of the best things that I love about Family Documentary Photography is that, just as with life, no matter how much you plan out your day there is always something that can come along and throw a wrench in it.
During my session with the Gonzelez family we had to make a detour to the Bird Rescue Center after finding an injured baby bird behind their car after their eldest sons soccer game. While not planned, it was a great adventure and learning experience for the children. While we were there we had to opportunity to see an owl, a hawk and a turkey vulture. Unfortunately as we were leaving we were told the baby bird would not make it.
I’m SO thankful for the Gonzelez family for letting me tag along on a busy Saturday morning and allowing me to document all the seemingly mundane moments. But it is those moments that make up most of our lives and that makes them the most special ones of all.
